Stay

I say, “Eh, I don’t care if you stay. It doesn’t bother me,”
What I meant was, “I’d die if you left.”

Standing Still

If I could hold you long enough
I would tell you that
Falling like a rock
And floating like a feather
Share the same experience
And that both would stand still
In your presence.
Even air wouldn’t move
To keep you.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Angelica Mattschei lives in the Bronx (YERRRR!) with her musician partner, Katty Anna Mayorga, and a menagerie of the most badass urban farm animals to ever escape the butcher block. There is much music, laughter and poop to sustain her through muggy city nights and cold winters without a fireplace.

Angelica has an English degree from the University of Connecticut as well as two masters in Business Management and Education. There is NOTHING she loves more than the Uconn Women’s Basketball team (#bleedblue)! Angelica was born in the Philippines but considers autumn under a New England sky her home.

Angelica is scared to death of ceiling fans and surviving a horrific crash every time she’s in a vehicle. Angelica likes to passionately sing songs outside of her vocal range. She struggles with writing author bios that don’t sound like her dating profile. Angelica’s two passions in life have always been writing and tennis. She has spent two-thirds of her life so far immersed in tennis and now wants to give writing a full-hearted try. Come along for the ride, will you? It promises to be unpredictable and inconsistent, and maybe just the best thing you’ve accidentally stumbled upon today on your way down the intraweb rabbit hole.
